A couple of nights ago I saw the moon almost full with a bright star just to the left of it. Turns out that was Jupiter. I was just now driving to the grocery store and the moon was so bright in the dusk sky I almost drove off the road looking at it. Tonight that bright star to to the right of the moon is Jupiter.
Why was I heading to the store at 5:45 p.m.? Because my oldest son just pointed out we were almost out of milk and there were no juices or anything else to drink (I just drink water about 80% of the time). We go through 4 to 5 gallons of milk a week and oldest son alone would drink one bottle of cranberry juice a day if I let him.
Me: "Wha??? I have already been to the store twice this week!"
Him: "We are growing teen-age boys, Mom."
Well.
I've written about the Full Beaver Moon before. This is when the Native Americans saw the beavers getting ready for winter. And then the fur traders expanded the West big time in pursuit of the beaver. Did you know they are the largest rodent in North America? We have a small one living in our house (a Russian Dwarf hamster).
Tomorrow is 11/11/11. I know of someone getting married tomorrow for the date 11/11/11. I would do that in a heartbeat. One of my oldest friends and I will be chatting tomorrow on 11/11/11. Ever since high school when we were together on 7/7/77 and talked about it then, we've made it a point to always remind each other of how we talked about the future and would we talk on 8/8/88 or 9/9/99 or 10/10/10. There have also been conversations or messages left on 01/01/01, 02/02/02, etc. Can't really do it after 12/12/12. Well, there is always 01/03/13.
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods under this November Full Beaver Moon.

When I first read his, I thought you said 5:45 AM, and I though you were insane. Bu 5:45 PM is just a damned good mother. I have friends getting married on 11/11/11 too. I love it. And I love that you and your friend have this excellent tradition!
Beaver Moon still makes me laugh. I love why it's called that though.
4-5 gallons a week?!? I guess that makes sense but lord!
Tonight Laura told me that she avoids pointing out the full moon because "someone always says, 'No, not quite.'"
We are currently going through about a gallon and a half of milk a week and know that will increase. My oldest doesn't like milk so we do get some relief that way.
The moon was beautiful tonight in our neck of the woods.
I saw the full moon last night through the window, as I was walking back to bed after Ava awoke with an allergy attack. It made me think of you! The moon, not the allergies. ;) 4-5 gallons!?! Growing teenage boys, indeed.
What a cool tradition with your friend!
I seem to go to the store several times a week and I only have one teenage girl and one boy that is almost there. I can't imagine with both of my boys are teens....gah!!!
I think the food and drink trips to the store would be less if Hubs weren't included too in the mix of boys. He drinks so many liquids and is a big snacker and he is the worst offender of using like 5 glasses a day. Total pet peeve of mine.
Yes, I totally remember that day in my parents' kitchen, with the old-fashioned radio there on the kitchen counter, and a nice large kitchen floor to rock out on, listening to music, and thinking how cool it was that it was 7/7/77. Prior to that, it was 6/6/66, which would have made us too young to care, and a bit satan-y! :) Thanks for the tip on the moon!
