The celebration is that one year ago I first started reading blogs. And all of you have added a lot to my life. Kept my mind busy. Learned lots. Made me laugh, and also made me reflect.
This morning I stopped into Starbucks to get a latte and a muffin for my son's teacher whose birthday was today. I didn't know what she liked but I have read on other blogs how many people are enjoying a pumpkin spice latte. So I bought one for her (and a muffin) and one for me. It was 7:00 a.m. and normally I am not out of the house this early. Normally I have a couple cups of Dunkin Donuts coffee at home starting at 7:30 a.m.
So I get to the school and the teacher was thrilled and Hubs and I had a conf about Youngest son and I sip my latte, and ......wth....Yuck! I did not like it all! I guess I was expecting coffee with a little flavor. Anyway I only drank half of it and then I went back home and made some regular coffee. And felt kind of sick until lunchtime. So I guess I am just not with it. Or maybe it was something to be sipped at night with a good book or chick flick and not at 7:15 a.m. in a little kid chair at a little kid table.
But clearly I am in the minority on this and even though my cup of pumpkin brew got trashed, perhaps it is your treasure. So I want to give a caffeine-addicted reader a $10 gift card to:
But wait, there's more!
I want to make you a necklace. I have this green one that I can give you (I have all of the same materials to make another one):
(how do you like the model here wearing my necklace? I had a photo of myself wearing it from when I posted about this necklace in August but two out of three boys just told me that I didn't look so great in that photo after I asked them).Or, if green is not your thing I can make you one like it but in a different color.
Or if you have boys I can send you a boy necklace. This was is in brown "natural" colors and my 13 year old wears it sometimes (and I have all the same materials on this one too to make another for you). He's told his friends, "My mom made me this necklace" and they say, "Oh cool". (That is the extent of their conversations. Seriously, you should hear them on the phone -- the calls are over and done with in 5 seconds).

So here's the deal: leave me one comment on this post by Saturday, November 28 (midnight). On Sunday I will draw a name and announce the winner. Tell me in your comment what time on Thursday you'll be eating your Thanksgiving dinner. And at whose home?
P.S. Here I am at age 13--and I loved talking on the phone. My hair wasn't this blonde--it's just the light.

Look at you gorgeous girl!!
Sorry about the pumpkin spice latte let down (so thoughtful of you for the teacher). I'm afraid I'm one of the chicks who digs them, but I can see how they could be a little much. I won't even try to sell you on the peppermint mocha (yum).
Thanksgiving was supposed to be traditional fare in our home this year, but my mother-in-law has been summoned to her mom's because of a serious illness, leaving me with my hubs, two sons, a FIL and a BIL. I'm thinking a couple of frozen pizzas and a six pack around noon.
Maybe some festive napkins.
P.S. love the necklaces, and the models :-)
Love your models. It is nice they can model and be anonymous! ;)
I like green and I love Starbucks. :)

Not a Starbucks buyer either. Had to laugh at the post as I thought for sure you would tell how you liked it.
Thanksgiving - headed to one of those bunco b____s. 3:30. (When you don't have extended family in town, you have to make your own.)
P.S. Correction: Eating at 5 or so. Gathering at 3:30.
Thanks for posting your 13 year old picture. Oh, where has the time gone. Don't you just wonder that sometimes?
Ooo, ooo, I love free stuff! And pretty much nothing makes me happier than coffee. And necklaces.
I am the hostess, as always. Guests arrive for cocktails and apps about 4, then dinner will be about 5ish.
I hesitated to comment, cause I don't expect you to send anything over here, but I just wanted to say, yea for you! I really enjoy reading your blog and I enjoy that you read mine too. :)
And I'm not a pumpkin spice person either.
I am not a pumpkin spice person either. More of a mocha person. But I do LOVE my mocha.
Love both of the necklaces...
I tried a liquid pumpkin spice creamer last year and loved it. Bought some this season-hated it. Couldn't swallow it fast enough, and threw the whole bottle out!
Back when we lived in Colorado, around David's family, we would have huge get-togethers. Then when we moved to Georgia it was just the three of us, though I cooked the turkey and all the trimmings. When Melody got married ten years ago, it was into a family with three brothers, grandparents, aunt, etc., with a big dinner at her at in-law's house. This was written in blood as the m-i-l insisted that everyone be at her house at the time she set, and pouting if she didn't get her way, because it's 'tradition', which made Melody stressed because she didn't want to hurt my feelings. I had told her early on that I did not ever want it to be one of those either/or situations, to just let the mother-in-law have her way and we'd do it another time/day. (She insists on xmas as well.) We've since been included in the m-i-l dinners, but I can't even bring a dish because when you get there, even though you've asked what to bring or told her what you'd like to bring, she will have everything anyway, making your dish unnecessary and uneaten and in the way. (In case you're wondering why we don't invite them all to our house, it's very small and room for four to eat comfortably, and they have a huge house with a big kitchen table and a big dining room table.) Sooo, to answer your question: we will be eating at our daughter's m-i-l's house at llam. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, becaue I am incredibly grateful to be here to spend the holiday with our daughter and grandkids, and the in-laws are very nice people. It's just one of those things that sticks in your craw (and makes me sound petty!). (Sorry, I didn't mean to take off like that...)
Love the necklaces! I've recently become a necklace addict who never seems to remember to wear them (I'm a jeans and tee shirt girl), but I have them hanging on a hook in the bathroom and stand back and look at the lovely colors! Your's would look beautiful hanging there.
Wow, you were quite the looker! Still are!
Hey, you live in Georgia! Maybe we could come to your house! Would you let me bring a dish - and eat it?

I like all the poses.
Haven't tried the $tarbucks pumpkin coffee (and won't now). But then, I'm not a huge pumpkin fan. Husband is making a pumpkin pie for Tgiving and I'll be wearing my pumpkin poker face for the big taste.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Hilarious post. I'm thrilled that you've reached your 70-something post!
As you know, here in the south, Thanksgiving dinner is early. We're at my folks' vacation house in the mountains, and I expect we'll eat about 2. Later than that and people get antsy.
I hope you have a fab time in Florida! What are you gonna get at Target on Friday?
PS: oh, and I love the pumpkin spice latte. And you were a gorgeous child!
Michelle what a beautiful photo! Love it!
We're having our dinner at about 4pm here at the house, just us, and then dessert at the neighbors'. My in-laws are too far to visit, my Mom is working, and Dad leaves for London Friday morning so no company for us this year.
I'm sorry you didn't like the Pumpkin Latte! They are a little heavy - I tried one with skim to save calories one time and the taste was off - maybe that was the problem??
No way were you 13 in that picture! You look like you're in your mid 20's! I'll bet you had ALL the senior boys looking your way when you started high school, huh?
Great photo, Love the model for the necklace!!
Our family is going out to eat at a restaurant near my parent's home. I can't believe my mother, grrrr, made reservations for 6:30 pm.
Happy Thanksgiving, Michele Renee!
D'oh! I've been out of the loop.
Eh. Starbucks...sometimes it's tasty, sometimes not so much.
Loverly necklaces!
Thanksgiving was around 3pm and I abandoned my plans for taking a shower. Ate turkey in my pajamas. 1st time for everything!
