Fast Food and Flowers

Does your Chick-Fil-A have fresh long-stemmed roses on every table? This Chick-Fil-A near us was closed for a little bit while undergoing some remodeling. The remodeling included building a double or triple-lane drive through.

The other day I went through the drive-through alone. I glanced up to order my chicken sandwich, fries and lemonade and was completely shocked to find not only a speaker, but a video screen with a Chick-Fil-A employee whose face took up the entire screen, smiling at me (albeit nervously) and repeating my order and stating the cost. I was startled--like--was this employee really sitting inside the restaurant for real? My next though was I wished I had my camera ready to take his picture. I'll definitely have to do that next time. It was weird, though. He was not at the window when I paid and picked up my food so I guess he is hidden.

BTW there is another Chick-Fil-A near us a few miles in the other direction. I sat there and ate one morning while waiting for an oil change nearby. No roses at this one, but a worker stopped by to offer to refill my coffee, or get me anything else, and took away my tray and trash. So, roses, table service.…sheesh, next thing you know this is where we’ll go on a date night. We’d even have enough money for a movie.

Anyway, here are some flowers in front of our house that have Loved the hot, hot summer. When we moved into our house, like many in the 25 year old neighborhood, there were holly bushes right up against the house. The older neighbors thought my Hubs was crazy, tearing them out and planting small groups of perennials. Now whenever I see big, thick, mature bushes right against a house, I always see a fauna makeover in my mind.

This is the first year we've been able to grow sunflowers. This one ended up too heavy and its head is flopped over from the weight now. But it's the only one of a few that deer didn't chomp off while it was a bud.

Speaking of sunflowers (seeds), baseball is starting up here . Soon our weekdays and Saturdays will be filled with sunflower seeds, Gatorade, bubble gum and Chick-Fil-A food, and maybe even more stories of the other parents!

Wow, that's some upgrade at Chick-fFl-A! I'll have to go check ours out! Love the rudbeckia (if that's what they are) - I had a lovely batch, but something happened to them practically overnight (I think probably moles) as they literally just fell over and died. As for the hollies, we have the same thing, and they have to be pruned 50 times a year to be able to see out the living room window. I planted flowers in front of them, but keep begging my husband to get out his chain saw and wack them down and then I'll poison them...pulling out isn't an option as a sidewalk and flowerbed are in front of them! Baseball? Garrett has just started football! I thought baseball was in the spring/summer?

Ours doesn't have long stem roses, but it does have fresh flowers!

Your perennials look lovely!

I bet the moles have a colony in the hollies!! :0
It is quite the chore. I believe it was a 4-part process to remove them.
Spring baseball is more popular but the recreation baseball is also offered in the fall.
My eldest did football in the fall during 6th and 7th grade (he is in 9th now). So, so glad he stopped that (we really had no life. And my brain can't learn those positions and who does what!)

I loved Chik-Fil-A when we lived in the South. We always make a pit stop whenever we are back in the South visiting!
We are in Football season here after 4 months of baseball!

Imperfect sunflowers are especially endearing.

And chik-fil-a? LOVE it. No trans-fats, great mission statement, delicious food. I could go on and on.

They are finally, finally, FINALLY opening a Chick-Fil-A here in LA. It's going to be downtown new the USC campus - nowhere near me. But everybody's so excited. It's hysterical. I'm guessing there will be lines around the block. I'll let you know if they have flowers.
