Full Snow Moon on Sunday

February's full moon falls on Sunday. It is named the Snow Moon by the Native Americans because of the heaviest snow falling this time of year. Seems especially true this year, doesn't it?

A couple of weeks ago my kids told me that all 50 states had snow on some part of the ground. I had never thought of that before. I just Googled it and learned that this month even the mountaintops in Hawaii had some snow. So it is the Snow Month indeed. And I love learning new facts from my kids.

My father told me that 60% of the United States was covered with snow 2 weeks ago. Thankfully, ours here is melting & peeps of grass are starting to show. Spring can't be too far away :)

How cool - both that everyone got some snow, and that your kids teach you things! Love the house photo - ours is still snowy too!

What a blessed month. (I love snow. Because I can drive to it.)

Wow! I didn't realize that about all 50 states. That's amazing!

That's such a pretty picture. Hope it was clear enough for you to see the moon! :)

I love learning facts from my kids, too! Just the other day, the 5 year old told me "Sharks have no creditors." He may have meant "predators" but he is correct that they don't have creditors, either. (Except maybe loan sharks, I guess!)

I heard that, too. I thought - Florida?

I've never heard of the Snow Moon. Certainly seems apt. Snowed in my town the other day - I was out of the state. By the time I flew in, it had all melted. First snow that stuck in a few years.

Yes, amazed at what my kids have taught me.

We *still* have that snow!

I saw the moon this morning and thought of you :)

We got over a foot; local records were broken. It was great. The snow did not, however, affect the unemployment #s announced today, no matter what Obama says -- nice try, though.

Happy Friday.

Oh wow look at ALL your snow! I don't know what's going on here! The East is slammed with snow and here in Utah it has been rather mild! We finally woke up to a couple of feet Friday but it already melted. I love the snow. ENjoy! And yes, your boys are cute and SMART!

okay does FLORIDA (the sunny state!) even have snow??? Oh how I wish I was sitting on the warm beach right now!!!!

I just love the words, snow moon. Beautiful.
We've had zero snow here in the Seattle area so I'm loving your pictures.
