She is my doc too and was wonderful at my check up last week--why did I wait so long? Still hot flash city over here ... and traveling out of state on planes a couple days ago didn't help that!
You'd better believe that after I met this doc a few years ago I gave her a glowing review on Ratemds.com
Will post soon!
(Original post from 9/9/10 below)
I've been a little discombobulated this week but the good news is that today is the first day in almost a week that I have not had a headache. Over Labor Day Weekend I had some major hot flashes every single day (which have continued every single day, many, many times) and a hormonal headache. Not to mention weepiness. Very much like when you give birth and then your hormones go wacko and everything is fine but tears fall at anything. I went walking and vowed to take better care of me. I made a list of different doctor appts I needed to make, some that I had not seen in years. I researched hot flashes online and went to the store to buy Vit E, a Vitamin with B-6, B-12, Vit C, zinc and more all in one. And Black Cohosh for the heck of it.
My youngest son didn't feel too perky all weekend and Tuesday morning he said he felt awful. Seems he had a 100+ degree temp.....and I have been home with him ever since. It gets up to 102.5 every day, including today and off to the doctor we went. There is something in his chest and we got some meds. Poor guy missed his first baseball game and this is the first time he has coaches who asked him to pitch. I emailed his teachers again today and asked if they wanted to send home any schoolwork. I picked it up and....there is a huge stack of work to be done. I knew he worked hard every day and now I really know.
I did make a doctor's appt for myself tomorrow for full bloodwork....I don't know why I was putting it off except that I didn't want to sit there with muffin top and see the scale at 8 pounds higher than last time I was there.... I need to see the eye doctor and the dermo...it has been a few years as well.
Lots going on with these three boys. Let me just say that if I thought life was busy with two working parents and three children who have lots of school work and interests, and are on three different sports teams, and a husband who slept on his shoulder wrong who needed help getting dressed for past couple days and had to go to the orthopedic doc on Tuesday and have no relatives nearby to help with anything....just add a high schooler into the equation. I didn't know what busy was. More details to come.
Last week Hubs and Youngest were throwing the baseball in the front yard and a missing ball could not be found. I was trimming a rose bush and voila. I find this photo significant to my life:
And I have adored being home with him:

Hi! Believe me, I can relate to being so busy you don't know how to keep up. Try coming home after a long day at work to FOUR little ones clamoring for your attention and only having about an hour to divide it between them all before bedtime!
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, but skip the vitamins. Don't you know chocolate and wine cure everything?
Oh dear! I hope everything is set right soon. I can't imagine how you do it all. Hope you feel better in the midst of it all.
High school! So not ready for that. ;)
Xoxo
I think we are all about to lose our minds here in blog world with busyness and fatigue.
What is going on?
Hey, if we were related and lived closer together, I'd help you - cuz it sounds like your life is definitely busy and that you need an assistant housewife!
Hope your vitamins help, and that the doctor appts. go well.
oh wow...what a life you lead...that is a lot going on...and i don't even know how you manage illness & injuries...yikes! i hope life resumes to "NORMAL" soon! hugs! ♥ ♥
I totally feel you. I confess I have totally put off a doctors appt that was due in April because I didn't want it in writing that I was actually heavier than last year- stupid huh!
I was also sick this past weekend - stomach bug. But of course you keep on moving, albeit a little more slowly. Finally on Monday night I said I think I have been really sick- Duh!!!!
I am happy that you got some time to enjoy your son - even if he was sick :(
I hope your doctor's appointments simply work as reminders to take better care of yourself.
Take care!
Okay, I'm officially going to stop complaining about being busy. Those four dudes would be so lost without you, you have got to take care of yourself!
Let's make a date soon and catch up. We can compare hot flashes and random weepiness.
Actually, moms can get sick all they want, they just can't enjoy it.
Ditto Becky, shesh!
It must have been lovely, babying your baby.
Welcome to the hot flash club. Annoying, isn't it?
I haven't figured out the justice in a universe where HRT for women is right out, but guys can get testosterone for "youthfulness" in any corner doc mill.
I sure hope all goes well soon. But it is a bonus to hang with your son!
Well that's all very trying. Sheesh. Those men are all lucky to have you. Hey, have you tried a Chillow? I'm dying to find out if it works.
Hope you're feeling better. We are allowed to be sick but we have to work through it so it's not really worth it, is it?
@gretchen: What's a Chillow? Is it a cold pillow? I'm intrigued! I love a cold pillow. I'm always flipping it over to the cooler side. I'm off to google it!
Isn't it Murphy's law? When we get sick, they get sick. But I'm glad you had some downtime with your son.
aeyuhrrdhewpzxvvzlpn, justin bieber baby, lifqqyu.
Sick does not make the busyness better, does it.
I am sorry that you do not have family near by. I do not know how we would do it all without my inlaws near. And even with them, sick and exhaustion overtakes me.
I was hoping to find a post with good news that all was better. I'm praying this means you're out skipping in the woods, too busy talking to the squirrels and bunnies to come in and blog.
And I mean that in a hope-all-is-better way, not you've-gone-round-the-bend way.
Oh my! So much going on for you! It's so true, how we never get any sick days...our lives still march on. I hope your son gets better really soon and that you start to feel better too:) Both of you need some TLC. It can be hard not having family nearby to help out. We're in the same boat too.
Here's hoping you both start to feel better and have a nice quiet weekend.
Life doesn't stop when you're a mom, that's for sure. I, too, always wait until the last moment to visit the doctor. Then wonder why I waited so long. And feel stupid for doing so.
Hope it begins to calm down and that boy has his party. I hate amox. Never worked. Always went for the big guns.
