I'm Home Alone....and I LIKE IT!

(I keep singing the above title to the tune of Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl and I Liked It" song).

On this Friday night I have been alone in the house for exactly 65 minutes so far.

Starting Monday I have made 21 lunches. Done 4 loads of laundry. Folded the laundry. Checked homework. Prepped 3 dinners. Gave kisses. Tucked snacks in backpacks. Read blogs. Written comments. Sent emails. Got myself ready. Listened to voice mails. Made coffee. Ironed 2 shirts and 3 pants. And this is all before 8:35 a.m. each day.

The above is normal. I really like my mornings. But this morning I was stressed. I drove 3 hours each way to a meeting today. Got home at 6:00 p.m. It is too cold out but my youngest son has his season's first baseball practice. And the other two wanted to skateboard at the park since it is right there by the baseball field. I was getting ready to go too--changing into jeans as my husband was pulling on sweatshirts. Then I realized I didn’t have to go.

I really needed this hour and a half.

I love having "the night off" as they say, so I can play on the computer, eat mac n cheez, play with the cat, and get some grading done! I like the "On this Friday night I have been alone in the house for exactly 65 minutes so far". Cracking me up!

John and I both work largely from home. Every once in a while, he senses I need to be home alone -- not working, but HOME. So he'll be out and phone and say: "Should I not come home for lunch today" and be just fine when I say: no.
